For an Information Technology professional, being a graduate is not always the only and the main way to do well in the job market

Given the numerous solutions that the IT market offers, it is difficult to decide for a type of training. One of the criteria to stand out as an IT professional is to perform specific functions in the chosen area, in addition to keeping abreast of the sector trends. An investment option that offers this competitive advantage is certification.

Currently, certifications are the best attestations a professional can have about their competencies in some technology. When choosing this specialization model, when deciding which certification most suits your professional profile, it is important to evaluate the scenario and its objectives, which may be personal or be related to the company needs where you work.

These trainings, which are usually based on technologies developed by IT vendors, offer scope and extend the range of actuation possibilities. Within the network segment, for example, the professional needs to understand many technologies to integrate and configure them in order to give the environment the best possible performance. The choice for a certification directs to a certain technology and allows a differential to the professional.

Network Segment

Among the certifications for networking, some examples are Cisco, which offers the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and the Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA), training that opens the world doors of computer networks and converged networks. Through CCNA, the student gathers knowledge to turn practice into routing and switches into implementation and configuration techniques, and thereby meet customer needs.

This certification focus is important because routing and switches represent underlying technologies for a computer network to support security, collaboration, video and data systems, voice convergence, and so on. CCNA prepares the field technician to make adjustments to switches and routers.

The CCDA covers the voice over IP, long distance, WAN, LAN and firewalls. It prepares the professional for the network design, with theoretical and integrative vision, and addresses terminologies and best practices for the tool use. With a CCDA certification, you become qualified to work in network architecture, accompanying the project manager and decision-making. In addition, it has the whole vision, can help to implement a project and choose the most appropriate products.

How to make the most of training

These certifications can be applied in customized courses (in Company), in groups formed by people from different companies (in face classes) or in the distance learning (EAD) model. However, in the EAD classes case, it is important that they are live and that there is interaction between student and instructor.

If you have doubts about the course to be carried out or about the model to be applied, a tip is to try to attend a demonstration to know the content and the classes dynamics. There needs to be empathy between the student and the methodology used by the instructor, and by the demo this relationship can be established.

Getting a certification is no easy task, it is an achievement that requires persistence and dedication. But you’ll make sure that this effort paid off when you differentiate yourself within a team, contributing to practices that effectively help you integrate a network project more efficiently and with performance.
