Project benefited the company entire supply chain
Nap IT, an IT company, helped Souza Cruz, a cigar producer, in the technology transition process and network provider in more than 50 locations as part of the project to improve WAN performance.
The project posed challenges to Nap IT in geographic issues, as the company is scattered across multiple regions and integration should have the least possible impact on users. Nap IT assisted with a technical professionals team and pre-migration and post-migration supervision led by Rodrigo Cassiano, account manager for Nap IT.
“Souza Cruz has sites in several states of the country and some have more than one branch. This made it difficult for the logistics to change from the old service provider to the new service provider without the user noticing. Another great challenge was to make the migration with the lowest cost and total transparency for the user”, says the manager.
By replacing the provider with a more robust technology, Souza Cruz achieved a 25% increase in performance gain. The technology has benefited the company entire supply chain, such as sales depots, which do the logistics part; smoke warehouse; and plants that process smoke.
Among the benefits achieved with this project, in addition to the processes standardization, there was an improvement in the service level and the scalable networks availability. The new features also offer voice, data and conferencing services convergence on the same platform, and remote access to Souza Cruz from a public network. In security systems, the technology uses dedicated firewalls to restrict, monitor, and prevent access to the data network.
According to the Souza Cruz IT manager, André Meireles, the project aimed at reducing the Souza Cruz operational cost without the technology performance and the systems quality loss available to employees. “We believe that all the group’s communication services are critical to our business, so we opted to outsource the project. The Nap IT management allowed Souza Cruz’s internal IT team to concentrate on systems linked to the company core business”, Meireles says.
